Rains Continue to Hit the South of Thailand

The rains continue…. …

During one of the wettest October and November's for many years, Thailand has seen almost 2 million residents severely affected by the recent floods.

Over 821,000 people in 7 provinces, have been affected in the North and over 675,000 in 4 provinces, in the South.

Over 220 people have been killed as a direct result of the floods, 150+ in the North and 70+ in the South.

In the South over the last two days, there has been heavy rain, which has added to the flooding issues.

The weather office has said that there are indications that even more rain will fall in the South over the next few days. The provinces at risk are Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.

Many farmers have lost their entire crops of rice, meaning that the price will inevitably rise over the coming months. Rubber tree farmers and farmers of other crops have also been severely affected.
