Fathers Day in Thailand – King Delivers birthday speech

Today,5th December, was the King of Thailand's 83rd birthday, and the King's birthday is also Father's Day in Thailand.


His Majesty the King travelled to the Royal Grand Palace this morning and granted an audience to high-ranking officials and dignitaries.

First there was the royal blessing ceremony led by Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.


The King wished all Thai people a healthy and happy life. He urged people not to be neglectful of their duties, warning that mistakes can be costly to themselves and the country.

He also said that people should be impartial and firm and be conscious and aware of their actions at all times to bring sustainable happiness and peace to the country.

Tens of thousands of people in the popular pink shirts watched on the roads outside to pay respect to the King and shouted 'Long live the King' as his cavalcade drove past them.

The King then returned to his residence at Siriraj Hospital, where he was admitted on September 19th last year suffering from fever and fatigue. He has been receiving rehabilitation there since then.
